What is Adapted Physical Education?
Adapted Physical Education (APE) specialists provide services that have been adapted, or modified, to better suit the needs of individuals with disabilities. APE instructors follow federally mandated requirements which include: physical and motor skills; fundamental motor skills and patterns; and skills in aquatics, dance, and individual and group games and sports in all their physical education services. APE specialists coordinate, and consult, with the individual's education programming team to make sure that all program details are specific to their needs.

"The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse."
